Peridot is August's birthstone.

Typically, peridots are a bright yellowish-green in colour which are usually the most desirable. However, they can also be found in other colour tones, ranging from a brownish-green to an olive color with a yellow tint.

Peridot has often been associated with prosperity and good fortune. Ancient Egyptians called the peridot the “gem of the Sun” as they believed it protected those who wore it from the terrors of the night.

Known as the stone of compassion, peridots are believed to bring good health, restful sleep and peace to relationships by balancing emotions and mind. This friendly bright green stone also has the uncanny ability to inspire eloquence and creativity; it also brings delight and good cheer.
